The purpose of this endorsement program is to prepare experienced teachers for:
- Assuming new roles as mentors
- Leading district teachers to maximize the learning potential of all students
- Developing skills to provide and assess the impact of professional development
Teacher Leaders will support, mentor, and work with the newly employed teachers who are in the Resident Educator program. The Ohio Department of Education created a series of required goals and objectives for any program offered by a college or university. Besides successfully completing the required course work, each candidate must also demonstrate practice at the distinguished level of teaching according to the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession.
Requirements for application
Candidates applying for a place in this program (limited to 25 participants for the first year) must:
- have a minimum of 8 years teaching experience
- possess a professional license
- provide one reference from an administrator and one reference from a teaching/professional colleague
- possess a master’s degree
- provide a 10-minute video recording of their teaching with a critique based on 5 questions (which will be developed and provided to them)
- be interviewed by CSU faculty/director(s) of this program
- provide a writing sample (approximately 1 pg.) based on a choice of 3 prompts created on campus before or after their interview

To be eligible for the Teacher Leader license, candidates must also submit a portfolio to their local county Educational Service Center and be evaluated at the Master Teacher level. |
