Joanne E. Goodell, Certificate Program Director
Introduction
The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for teachers who hold a teaching certificate or license in Elementary (K-8 or 1-8) and who have completed five or more years of teaching mathematics in one or more middle school grades to earn a university graduate certificate in middle childhood mathematics. This program is not designed to lead to a license to teach middle school mathematics. Individuals seeking to complete a licensure program should contact the Education Student Services Advising Center at (216) 6874625 for further information.
Admission Information
Prospective students should apply for graduate admission as a “certificate” student to register for classes. The student must meet the graduate certificate admission requirements detailed in the Admissions section of this Catalog. With program permission, non-degree graduate students may enroll in the courses noted below, but non-degree graduate students cannot earn a University graduate certificate. Degree-seeking graduate students who hold Regular admission status may also be admitted to the certificate program. Credits earned for the certificate may be applied toward a graduate degree, as approved by the student’s graduate program director and in keeping with the policies of the College of Graduate Studies.
Application materials should be submitted to the Graduate Admissions Office.
