Using Decision-Support Systems in Marketing Decision-Making

INTRODUCTION

As the marketplace gets more competitive, businesses (both large and small) are increasingly using Marketing analytics to formulate and optimize Marketing plans.  Marketing analytics enables professionals to measure, manage and analyze marketing performance, to maximize its effectiveness, and to optimize return on investment (ROI).  By providing valuable insights into customer preferences and trends, it helps managers formulate sustainable and competitive marketing plans.

The Graduate Certificate in Marketing Analytics at the Monte Ahuja College of Business is designed to assist students pursue careers as brand / marketing / product managers and/or analysts. They learn to use analytics in marketing decision-making allowing them to stand apart in their professional role. Students and business people, including managers, marketing research suppliers, consultants, planners, and analysts, who seek a more focused, hands-on, and practical experience in marketing decision-making, benefit from the program.  The program is designed to further careers that are based on marketing as a primary role (e.g., marketing manager) or as a secondary role (e.g., product engineer.)

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Graduates of the Marketing Analytics Certificate program will be able to:

  1. Measure and analyze customer preferences using secondary and primary data.
  2. Make informed segmentation and targeting decisions.
  3. Identify market opportunities by positioning new products and by repositioning existing products.
  4. Manage existing products and develop new products.
  5. Model market response and its impact on managerial objectives.
  6. Conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses to improve marketing decision making.
  7. Use predictive analytics and customer pattern recognition for decision-making.
  8. Analyze data for customer acquisition, retention, revenue management, and profitability.
  9. Predict and manage customers’ Lifetime Value.

FACULTY

The faculty of the Monte Ahuja College of Business are a diverse group of world-class professors with industry-leading expertise in their disciplines and related business experience.  Every faculty member who teach in this program has a terminal degree in their field of specialization–many from the world’s leading business schools.  In addition, faculty are actively involved as business consultants, members of professional organizations, and civic leaders, bringing a richness of practical application to every course they teach.

ADMISSION INFORMATION

The Graduate Marketing Analytics Certificate Program requires that current business and non-business graduate students complete at least one course in Marketing at the undergraduate level prior to application. Graduate students must be in good standing with a minimum of 3.0 GPA.  Working professionals with a basic knowledge of Marketing and an undergraduate degree may also apply.

Submission and evaluation of official transcripts will be required to determine if any prerequisite courses are needed. Admission to the certificate program will be determined by the Department of Marketing, Monte Ahuja College of Business.
