Description
Digital Humanities is a dynamic field that utilizes digital tools to enhance content and data analysis in the humanities. It also prepares students for careers in which they will present historical and humanities content to broad audiences and with the use of engaging digital technologies. This major will appeal to students who enjoy hands-on project-based learning with a real world impact; also to students who enjoy web design, coding or data analysis. This major will not only provide students will a strong background in historical thinking and analysis but also transferable skills in web design, geographic information systems, and public humanities.

Students trained in digital humanities excel in careers where digital skills meet humanities content. These include careers in nonprofits, cultural and educational institutions, communications, marketing, web design, law enforcement, and public administration.
What skills are developed within this major?
Students will learn a variety of skills from each discipline area of the degree including critical thinking, written communication skills, digital literacy, data analysis, web design, research, and abilities to present findings effectively to a range of audiences. Students will also learn to design information to facilitate digital research and publishing, and they will learn to create historically accurate representations of information in ways that will appeal to a broad audience across a variety of digital platforms. They will also earn a certificate in Urban Geographic Information Systems as part of the regular coursework.
