Accreditation
The graduate business programs of the Monte Ahuja College of Business are accredited by AACSB International. In addition to the business accreditation, the curriculum of the Accounting Department has accounting accreditation from AACSB. The accounting programs at Cleveland State were the first in the State of Ohio to receive this accreditation.
Program Description
The Master of Accountancy and Analytics program addresses the accounting industry and business market needs with an innovative STEM-focused curriculum. The program merges accounting knowledge and practices with analytics and technologies that support the needs of the accounting industry. The applications are relevant to accounting services in business, government, and public accounting. The program develops the candidate’s ability to apply today’s technology and data-driven knowledge to resolve the challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s business needs in accounting and financial processes and services.
The program consists of 30 credit hours of coursework that will be delivered online and is available for students to begin the program during any academic semester at Cleveland State University.
This STEM-designated program also allows candidates to satisfy CPA coursework requirements, along with providing flexibility to select elective coursework based on the candidate’s professional interest.
Faculty
All faculty have active research agendas and most faculty have extensive experience in professional services, business accounting, and some in Big Four auditing or taxation. Accounting faculty members have published on topics such as auditing, fraud, capital markets, international and financial accounting, and federal taxation. Introduction
The primary aim of the program is to develop competent accountants knowledgeable in professional practice accounting and prepared to adapt to technological advances in the industry.
Financial Assistance
The College of Business Administration has a limited number of graduate assistantships available each year. Students may apply for an assistantship by completing an application form available from the Graduate Business Programs Office. Copies of completed applications are circulated to department chairs, graduate program directors, and other appropriate parties within the College. Interviews with prospective graduate assistants are arranged directly by department chairs and others who hire and supervise graduate assistants.
Career Information
The Master of Accountancy and Analytics prepares students for a career in accounting. The requirements include modern accounting analytics courses that prepare students to use technology related to accounting and provide the aptitude for learning new technology as the industry evolves.
The program provides strong fundamentals setting students up to prepare for certificates such as the Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Internal Audit (CIA), Certificate in Financial Management, and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
Admission Information
The following are the requirements for consideration for admission to the Master of Accountancy and Analytics program:
- Applicants must meet all College of Graduate Studies admission requirements.
- GMAT/GRE scores are not required.
Note that the following program prerequisite courses can be waived due to completion of undergraduate or graduate coursework that has been completed with grades of a ‘C’ or better for BLW 511 , or a ‘B’ or better for ACT 501 , within 10 years of being admitted to the program:
- ACT 501 or equivalent - MBA Financial Accounting
- BLW 511 or equivalent - Business Law & Ethics

Provisional Admission
Students who have a cumulative GPA between 2.25-2.75 may be admitted provisionally. Provisionally admitted students are subject to six (6) credit hours (two total classes) limit during their first semester in the MAA program. Provided they earn a 3.0 cumulative GPA or above during this first semester, they may complete the rest of the MAA curriculum. Course selections are curated through academic advising. Provisional Admission is only for domestic students.
