Asian Studies Minor

The Asian Studies minor is offered by the departments of Anthropology, Art, History, Modern Languages, Music, Political Science, and Religious Studies. The program’s objectives are to heighten awareness of the rich and diverse histories and cultures of Asia, to stimulate cross-cultural interest among students in the social sciences and the humanities, and to cultivate an appreciation of Asian arts and literatures. Students wishing to minor in Asian Studies must complete:
- A minimum of 16 semester credit hours in designated Asian Studies courses from at least three different departments within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
- Three courses must be concentrated in offerings related to the study of either South/Southeast Asia or East Asia.
- At least one course must be completed at the 300/400-level in an area other than the area of concentration.
