HIS 302 - US Slavery, Abolition, & Politics, 1820-1860

This course examines the American slave system of the nineteenth century, challenges to slavery from the rise of abolitionism and antislavery, the South’s effort to defend and expand slavery, and the resulting political contest that eventually led to southern secession and civil war . This course may fulfill a General Education Requirement.
