HIS 272H - Cultural Interactions: The Japanese Experience - Honors(4 credits) Prerequisite(s): Honors standing or permission of University Honors Program. This course will first discuss elements constituting the core of the Japanese culture, both traditional and modern, then focus on influences exerted on Japan by China and Korea beginning in the fifth century and from Europe and the United States after the mid-nineteenth century. The concluding portion of the course will examine influences by Japanese popular culture on both Asia and the West. This course may fulfill a General Education Requirement.
