SPH 241 - Survey of Deaf Culture(4 credits) This course, a study of Deaf culture and cross-cultural interactions, will address the origins of American Sign Language (ASL), the methods of communication used by those who are Deaf and Deaf/Blind, and the role of interpreters in the Deaf Community. It will also examine how persons who are Deaf navigate their world through shared customs, language, technology, attitudes, values, and more. This course may fulfill a General Education Requirement.
