ANT 323 - Visual Anthropology

(4 credits)

Students are urged to take ANT 100 Introduction to Anthropology or ANT 102 Study of Culture before taking this course. Introduction to the production and use of ethnographic videos and films in anthropological research and teaching. Course explores both theory and application: theory topics include ethics of production, issues of perspective, adequacy of representation, authorship and authority. Theoretical knowledge is applied in the editing of an ethnographic video from the instructor’s field footage.
