STA 323 - Statistical Methods

[3 credit(s)]
Prerequisites: A grade of “C” or better in MTH 182 or MTH 325. Course covers issues of data collection, graphical and numerical summary techniques, basic probability, discrete random variables, continuous random variables, central limit theorem, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing of a proportion, hypothesis testing of a mean, 2 sample hypothesis testing, chi square testing, regression. Appropriate statistical software used extensively. Goals include developing deep understandings of these topics as appropriate for middle and secondary school teachers. STA 323 counts toward the statistics minor; one course from STA 323 or MTH/STA 347 counts toward the mathematics minor, but not both.
