OSM 311 - Introduction to Operations Management[3 credit(s)] Prerequisite: Completion of at least one college-level math course and junior standing. Introduction to the design and management of manufacturing and service operations. Students will learn to recognize the basic tradeoffs associated with operations management decisions, identify and quantify operating characteristics of different manufacturing and service systems, and apply various tools and techniques used by operations managers. Topics include product and service design, quality management and control, capacity planning, location decisions, facilities layout, supply chain management, JIT, and lean operations. OSM majors must earn a minimum grade of ‘C’ or better.
