HSC 434 - Urban Health I[1 credit(s)] Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Urban Health Certificate Program. This is the first of a four-course sequence within the Urban Health Certificate. The seminar course introduces several topics of importance to urban practitioners, including social determinants of health, health disparities, cultural competence, and the health care landscape of Cleveland, Ohio. Students are given the opportunity to develop skills needed for effective urban practice including, but not limited to, cultural competency, effective team skills, community engagement, professional behavior, and interviewing and observation skills.
