The field is rapidly growing with improvement in technology, leading to an expansion in new career opportunities. The goal of the B.B.A major in Operations and Supply Chain Management is to provide students the background needed to become business leaders who will be equipped to solve complex supply chain challenges.

Major-Field Requirements

For students who are -admitted to CSU after Fall 2009, the requirement for a major in Operations and Supply Chain Management is to complete 30-32 credit hours in the College of Business Administration (CBA) beyond the College Core requirements.

Students admitted to CSU prior to Fall 2009 must take 20 credit hours of OSM courses beyond the College Core requirements. These courses are designated as OSM major electives. Students admitted to CSU after 189 Fall 2009 must take 30-32 credit hours (around 8 courses) of OSM major electives. Students are encouraged to check with the department chair when choosing elective courses.

The OSM program is designed to provide a strong foundation in all aspects of operations management and supply chain management as well as exposure to the analytical tools used in the field. However, for students who want to focus on a specialization, we provide four possible tracks to choose from.

For Careers in the Manufacturing Industry:

Students interested in manufacturing careers should take the four courses corresponding to the test modules of CPIM certification of the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), namely OSM 413 , OSM 417 , OSM 419 , and OSM 427  . CPIM certification is essential for promotion to managerial positions in the manufacturing area.

Students should note the prerequisites for all courses. Students taking courses without having fulfilled the proper prerequisites may lose credit and may be required to take additional courses.

Listed below is a suggested schedule for completing the OSM major. OSM 311  Introduction to Operations Management can be taken at an earlier semester as long as the student completes OSM 201 .
