BS in Technical Sales (Integrated)


Description

This major combines engineering technology (mechanics and electronics) with business (focus on professional selling).

What careers can this major prepare you for?

This major prepares graduates for careers as sales engineer, technical sales, engineering sales, general sales, and engineering technologist.

What skills are developed within this major?

Students will develop skills in mechanical and electronics engineering technology fundamentals, basic business, professional selling, communication, natural sciences, and math up to basic integral and differential calculus and statistics.

Minimum hours required for degree: 120

Major Requirements


Grade restriction: Engineering Technology and Technical Selling students are limited to a total of two D grades in their major courses, with the exception of CHM, MTH and PHY courses not used as a required elective course.

Capstone Required Course


Must be taken in sequence with EET 460  or MET 470  the previous Fall semester.

Required Elective Courses


  • Two General Electives, selected from any university courses that do not satisfy another graduation requirement.
  • Two College Electives, selected from courses within the engineering or business colleges that do not satisfy another graduation requirement.
  • Three Program Electives, selected from the ET Department or business college courses, that do not satisfy another graduation requirement.

Honors Program Requirements


A University Honors/Scholars Program student will be able to graduate with Honors/Scholars in Engineering Technology and Professional Selling by completing the general requirements of the Honors or University Scholars Program and all of the following:

  1. Satisfy all requirements for the Engineering Technology and Professional Selling (B.S.) major.
  2. Honors contract one 300/400 level program elective from courses offered within the Engineering Technology Department.
  3. Honors contract one 400 level MKT elective from the Professional Selling Minor list.
  4. Items (2) and (3) must total 6 honors credits. These courses may be counted toward the major as well.
  5. Honors contract MET 480  or EET 480 . This would also meet the capstone requirement toward the major.
