MTH 434 - Differential Geometry[3 credit(s)] Prerequisites: A grade of “C” or better in MTH 281 or MTH 283, MTH 286, and at least one mathematics course numbered 300 or above or permission of instructor. This course focuses on the calculus, linear algebra, and geometry of curves and surfaces, as well as applications to engineering and science. Material covered will include the curvature and torsion of curves, Gaussian and mean curvatures of surfaces, minimal surfaces, and geodesics, Course makes extensive use of a computer system, such as Maple.
