HED 458 - Application of Health Coaching Skills

Course Pre-requisites: Completion of HED 414/HSC 414, HED 450, HED 420/HSC 420 & HED 425/HSC 425, overall GPA of 2.75 or higher, and enrollment in the Health and Wellness Coaching certificate. This course will focus on preparing students to develop an individualized Health Coaching approach. Areas of emphases will include building rapport, assessing readiness to change, and helping individuals clarify goals. Students will demonstrate competence in motivational interviewing, documentation of progress and making referrals. Course will build upon prerequisite knowledge of behavior change, disease management and wellness. Experiential learning component will be included.
