Admission to major: Completion of ENG 240 , ENG 241 , ENG 242 (or equivalent) with a “C” or better in all 3 courses.

Special tracks: The English major emphasizes the study of British and American literature. Tracks or concentrations are available in literature, creative writing, and secondary English licensure. Students desiring to teach English in middle schools must consult an advisor in the College of Education and Human Services, JH 170 (216-687-4625).

Students must take four creative writing workshop courses that count toward the English major, for a total of twelve credits. Additional workshops cannot count toward the English major but may count toward university requirements.
