Certificate Description
The College of Education and Human Services Undergraduate Certificate Program in Foundations of Autism Spectrum Disorder provides students with basic knowledge and skills necessary to teach children and adolescents with autism. In this program, students will examine the characteristics of individuals with autism and practice educational interventions designed for children and youth with autism. Additionally, students will investigate and critically examine the scientific knowledge and theory underlying educational practices, programs, and strategies for individuals with autism.
In order to earn an Undergraduate Certificate in Foundations of Autism Spectrum Disorder, a student needs to take four courses at the undergraduate (400) level. This option is open to all undergraduate students regardless of their major. It is also available to post-baccalaureate students. Students may enter the program from different backgrounds and with a variety of objectives related to educating individuals with autism. This program is delivered in an online format.
