Undergraduate Catalog 2020 - 2021 [ARCHIVED CATALOG]
Pre-Art Therapy Certificate
|
|
Return to: College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences
Requirements for Certificate: 21 credit hours, in addition to 12 credit hours of prerequisite courses.
This certificate program is intended for students planning to pursue Art Therapy as a career path. Practicing as an Art Therapist in Ohio requires a Masters degree in the field and so the goal of the certificate is to prepare students for admission into an MA program.
Students pursuing the certificate will typically be majors in either Studio Art or Psychology, or will have completed an undergraduate major in one of these areas. While this certificate will assure that students have a minimum level of preparation in both fields, and have the specific courses that MA programs require for entrance, students pursuing it are encouraged to consider either double-majoring in the two areas, or adding a minor in either Psychology (for Studio Art majors) or Studio Art and Design (for Psychology majors), or taking additional coursework in both areas.
